European Union Regulatory Framework
Division 240 & FFM Standards
Applies to pleasure craft, eFoils, and Motorized Water Boards (PNM) operating in French sea and inland waters.

United States Regulatory Framework
US Coast Guard (USCG) & PWC Framework
In most US jurisdictions, electric hydrofoils and motorized surfboard propulsion systems are classified as Personal Watercraft (PWC) or Motorized Vessels requiring valid Proof of Ownership or Bill of Sale.
Riders must wear a USCG-approved Type III Life Jacket (Personal Flotation Device) at all times during operation.
Wireless or tethered engine cut-off switches (ECOS) are mandatory to prevent runaway craft upon rider dismount.
Local state regulations (e.g., Florida FWC, California DBW) require vessel registration using individual component UIDs and ownership title certificates.
